Thomas Partey Set to Leave Arsenal as Contract Talks Collapse Amid Transfer Interest

Thomas Partey is poised to depart Arsenal this summer, with talks over a contract extension reportedly at a complete impasse, sources close to the club have revealed.

The Ghanaian midfielder, whose current deal with the Gunners runs out at the end of June, is not expected to remain at the Emirates Stadium beyond this month. Discussions over a possible renewal have stalled entirely, with no progress made in recent weeks.

Partey, 32, has drawn attention from several clubs, including interest from Turkey, while Spanish giants Barcelona have also been loosely linked with a potential move, according to reports.

Since arriving from Atlético Madrid in 2020, Partey has become an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s midfield. Known for his composure and physicality, he has featured in over 160 matches for the North London side, contributing nine goals during his time at the club.

His expected departure comes amid uncertainty in Arsenal’s midfield. The club has yet to officially announce the signing of Martín Zubimendi, who is being lined up as a long-term replacement for Jorginho, another experienced midfielder who exited this summer. Should both Partey and Jorginho depart without immediate reinforcements, Arsenal risk starting the new campaign with a depleted midfield — a concern that has not gone unnoticed among fans.

While rival clubs have already begun bolstering their squads, Arsenal’s relatively quiet transfer window so far has sparked anxiety among supporters, who are eager to see the club build on recent progress and mount another serious challenge for silverware.

With preseason fast approaching, the pressure is mounting on the Arsenal hierarchy to make decisive moves in the transfer market and ensure the squad remains competitive at the highest level.
